Oyster Mushroom Necklace | (Pleurotus citrinopileatus)

$85.00
Sold Out

The business end of a mushroom is actually its underbelly. Spores are released from between the wavy gills, and this is the texture that we feature in this necklace.

Casting mushrooms has proven to be a challenge. The mushrooms have to be big enough so that the details don’t get muddled, but this has lead us to some very large chunky pieces. So to make this pendant we cast a large mushroom and sent it to someone with a 3D scanner, so that we could then play with and shrink a digital file.

We believe the resulting design is an excellent combination of an organic process and precise computer work. The pendant has natural movement, imperfections, and a unique character as well as being small and easy to wear.

  • Sterling silver, antiqued

  • Choose a chain length 16, 18, or 20 inches

  • 1 inch length

  • Plant casting & digital design

  • SHIPS IN 1 - 3 DAYS

Fungi Babies

Oyster mushrooms are typical shelf mushrooms. The business end of the species is underground, inside a tree, or otherwise not visible. Its mycelium does the work of finding food, and then produces mushrooms to spread its spores.

Their spores are released from the underside of the mushroom, from between the wavy gills. Oyster mushrooms in particular are known for having a copious amount of spores- somewhere in the millions for a single mushroom.
